
Most British artists were slow to embrace new radical styles of Continental art, but Clive Gardiner had no qualms about adapting Cubism—with its revolutionary blending of multiple viewpoints of time and space—for a poster promoting season tickets. Because of the Underground’s enlightened approach to design, any pedestrian on a London Street could see styles that were rarely seen in the city’s art galleries.
