Delft Kabels by Piet Zwart was a catalogue for Nederlandse Kabelfabriek (NFK), a Dutch cable manufacturer. Zwart, a self-proclaimed typotekt (typographer-architect), employed aspects of Constructivism and De Stijl in his typographic works, but he never believed in belonging to a particular artistic movement. Given complete artistic freedom in regard to NFK’s graphic identity, Zwart experimented with asymmetry, stark contrast, blocks of color, photomontage, and dynamic typefaces—hallmarks of the burgeoning New Typography movement. In 2000 Piet Zwart was posthumously awarded Designer of the Century by the Association of Dutch Designers.
